What does Twilio do?

Twilio, is a cloud communication firm which enables users in using standard web languages for building voice, SMS app and VoIP through a web API. This startup is reinventing telecom by merging web services, cloud computing and telecommunications world. It provides a telephony infrastructure web service in the cloud, allowing web developers to integrate text messages, phone calls and IP voice communications into their web, traditional and mobile phone apps.

This cloud communications company sells an API which enables developers add voice, call, text and picture messaging to apps. Some of its clients are Walmart, Uber Technologies, Coca Cola, Airbnb, Home Depot etc.

How much Twilio was funded?

Twilio raised $100M in Series A round on May 5th, 2015 from the investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Bessemer Venture Partners and Redpoint Ventures.
