Some small businesses operate under the impression that attracting customers is very hard. They think that in order to attract new business they have to have a marketing budget to match. As a result, they adjust their expectations downwards. And in so doing, they miss out on some significant opportunities to succeed.
But the truth is that it is easier to grow your business than you think. After all, thousands of other firms seem to manage it. Here’s how to do it.
Open A New Location
First thing’s first: open a new location. One of the problems you’re facing right now is that your market is limited. After all, there are a limited number of people in your catchment area interested in your product. If you want to have a bigger company, you have to expand your operation.

But be careful not to expand wantonly. You need to do your research beforehand, just like you did when you opened your first location. You need to make sure that you’re ticking all the right boxes. For example, ensure that you have a great bottom line at your current location so that you can launch to the next. Also, make sure you have the admin team you need to manage a second location. And, finally, make sure you prepare a business plan for the new location, just as you did for your first location.
Outsource Your Marketing

If you’re a small business or a startup, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to employ your own marketing expert. That leaves you with two choices. You can either go it alone and risk losing customers. Or you can use a marketing agenzy to grow your customer base for you. A lot of companies choose the latter because of the value for money it represents. Yes – it will require that you spend money. But, as a businessperson, you’re already used to the idea that you have to spend money to make money.
License Your Product
The great thing about startups is that they are full of good ideas. In fact, startups tend to be more innovative per employee than big businesses. They are forever inventing new products and services and making people’s lives better. There’s just one catch: startups don’t have the resources to operationalize their ideas. So what should you do? Well, if you have an innovative product, you should first ask whether you can patent your idea. If you can, then it will become your intellectual property. And if it becomes your intellectual property, you can then license it out to other companies with bigger budgets who can bring it to market. In return, you’ll get paid a royalty which you can use to expand your business.
Start Selling Other Stuff
Let’s say for example that you’ve nailed one particular product and cornered the market. In this situation, it’s hard to imagine how your business might expand. But, of course, you don’t just have to sell one product forever. You can branch out and try your hand in different markets. One thing you could try is selling other products that complement their core range.
