Based on the project you are handling, there are different ways that paper can be used. If you belong in the email or print marketing, it is important that you get familiar with the range of papers that you will be using, and it is vital that you get familiar with them.

While there are different types of paper, this post will only focus on the A and B sizes.

A Paper Sizes

A paper size is the most recognised globally since it tends to have many uses. The paper was first used in Europe in the 19th century before spreading to different parts of the world. Besides Canada and the US, this paper system is used in almost all countries and is regarded as the most common standard business letter size that English-speaking countries use.

All you have to do is take a glance at your office or home printer, and you will see A4 paper sticking out of it. The A4 paper size is the most popular and is used for daily printing.

However, when you need to print with the A4 paper, you will notice that there is a range of options that you could opt for. These options range from A0 to A10. In the range of A0 to A10, then A0 paper size is the largest.

Both A0 and A1 are mainly used for posters, signs, and window displays. The A3 is best used for presentations, while as already said, the A4 is used for everyday printing. The A5 paper is the best choice for diaries, planner books, flyers, invitations, etc. A6 and A7 papers are used for larger post-it notes and business cards respectively, while A8, A9, and A10 are used for business cards, vouchers and tickets, and stamps or small vouchers respectively.

B Paper Sizes

Besides the A sizes, we have the B sizes. The series was invented to ensure that paper users have a wide range of options other than what they can get from the A-series. You also need to note that there are C series that come in envelope sizes.

Compared to the A-series, the B papers are a little bit bigger. This one also comes in a wide range, from B0 to B10. The B0 paper is used for enlarged photos and posters, B1 and B2 papers are both used for signs and posters. The B3 and B4 papers are used for paintings and posters, and notes. B6 papers are used for flyers and booklets, B7 is ideal if you are working on menus and flyers. B8, B9, and B10 papers are used for business cards, small flyers and vouchers and small cards respectively.
