3 Reasons to Use Social Media to Promote Your Law Firm
When it comes to legal matters, whether civil or criminal, you may think that you should only be promoting yourself through highly professional sites (such as SuperLawyers.com AVVO). So, it may come as a surprise to hear (read) that you should absolutely be on social media sites. At a minimum, you should be on Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
If you need convincing (other than being told by a coveted blog writer) then pay careful attention to the details in this article!
Reason #1: Reviews are King
This reason is almost exclusively about being on Google+ and Facebook. Prospective clients will check two places, primarily, for reviews: Google and Facebook. If you aren’t on Google and you aren’t on Facebook, you will gain zero traction with them!
When your prospective clients look for you on Google and Facebook, you want to make sure that you have an active profile (posting approximately 2 times each day) with ample reviews. Take some time reaching out to current and former clients and ask for reviews.
Reason #2: Search Engine Saturation
In addition to the main 5 social media platforms, you should make an account on any social media account that exists, including Foursquare and LinkedIn. Even if you aren’t active on these other social media sites, you will at least have saturation on the search engines (Google, Yahoo, and Bing) and rank higher if anyone searches your law firm by name specifically.
Another element to consider with being on Google+ and Facebook is that Google, the most widely used search engine, will rank you higher for having better (and more) reviews through Google+. This means you’ll end up in front of more eyes, simply for having an active social media.
Reason #3: Being Interactive Makes Clients Feel Cared About
When a prospective client checks you out on social media and sees that you retweet and share information they find valuable, respond to comments, and interact with your client base in general, it sends a nurturing message. Your prospective clients will know that if they choose you, you will make them a priority.
Ensure that you spend at least one hour a day on the main 5 social media platforms – interacting and posting. You want to make sure that when a prospective client is combing through these platforms that they are finding out how great your law firm is!
Reason #3.5 (The Bonus): Listen Through Social Media
Being interactive also means that you can play an active role in listening to what your clients want. You can figure out how to better serve your community and your clients.
Before You Say No
If you think that managing social media accounts is simply too much work, talk to a law firm marketing company. They can usually help you figure out a way to make it affordable and maximize your potential in bringing in more prospective clients. This could include doing more than just social media, so, don’t hesitate to give a marketing company that specializes in law firms a call!
