Rocana, is a provider of root cause analysis software company. It was formerly called as ScalingData. Today’s IT professionals are facing increasingly complex applications and data centers going out of control. Rocana shifts IT to proactive mode from reactive mode with data applications that are purpose built. These applications are cost efficient, scalable and open. Using ScalingData’s applications, information technology professionals can master operations by tracing data center problems from their root cause, finding emerging failure, predicting capacity issues and highlighting the latent threats. It is built on next gen Big Data technologies and places organizations ahead of operational challenges.

How much Rocana was funded?

Rocana raised $15 M in Series B funding from the investors General Catalyst Partners, Paul Sagan, Toba Capital and Google Ventures.

What is next for Rocana?

Rocana previously called as ScalingData has rebranded to Rocana which is an abbreviation for “root cause analysis”. It is called so because it traces the system down to the problem’s root cause.

Its mission is to help the IT professionals in monitoring and supporting new shared services infrastructures in data centers for keeping them up and running.

With the latest funding the total investments in the company amounts to $19.4M. It will be using the funding to bring big data analysis to IT operations.

Rocana was founded on February 1st, 2014 by Eric Sammer, Omer Trajman and Don Brown. It has its headquarters in Boston, MA. It creates next generation of IT operations analytics software to IT professionals as the complexity in IT industry is growing exponentially due to containerization, virtualization and shared services. The startup was founded by field veterans from Experian, Cloudera and Vertica.  Rocana has executive offices in San Francisco and Boston.
