How to Get Kik on PC

kik software

Kik Messenger is not available for PC. But, there are Android emulators that can make it accessible on your computer. Take a look!

Using the Installed Emulator

As we have already established, Kik Messenger cannot be used on the PC directly as there is no desktop or web version of it. So, we will need to use the workaround with the Android emulator. First of all, you will need to install a good emulator on your computer if you don’t already have one.

There are a few emulators out there, but we would recommend either BlueStacks or Andyroid. Both of them have proven to be highly effective. In fact, BlueStacks is our personal recommendation as it has been tried and tested more times than Andyroid. But, ultimately the choice will be yours. The process of downloading Kik messenger (or for that matter any Android app) with both emulators is more or less the same. You will need to download the emulator from the respective official website and then install it on your computer.  Once the emulator has been successfully installed, upon launching it you will see that it looks much like an Android tablet screen. In fact, it is the replica of the Android environment on your computer.

Here is what you need to do after installing the emulator:

  • Sign in with your Google ID. You can use any ID you want, even the one which you have used to sign in to your Android device.
  • Locate the search button (or go to Google Play Store) and look up for Kik Messenger (exactly the way you would search your smartphone or tablet for any app.)
  • Once you see the list of the apps, click on Kik Messenger by Kik Interactive.
  • Follow the simple on screen instructions to install the Kik messenger within the emulated Android environment.

Once the app has been installed, you can login to it with your Kik credentials, i.e. username and password.

That’s it! You now have the Kik messenger on your PC.

Note: Remember that Kik messenger you just installed is not a desktop app and will not run independent of the emulator. You will need to launch the emulator first to download Kik for PC.

Using the web based emulator

Not everyone likes the idea of installing an extra application on their computer. If you only want to use Kik messenger on PC and not any other Android app, you will find it too much work to go the emulator way. So, here is an alternative for you.

There is a web-based Android emulator which is called ManyMo. You can use this web based application to launch the Kik messenger.

In order to use Kik, you will first have to find the Kik APK file on the internet. Download it from a reliable and trustworthy source. Open Manymo in your browser and create a Manymo account if you don’t have one. Now, right click on the Kik APK file and choose ‘Launch with App’. Launch Kik with Manymo and you will be able to use it online on your PC.

This is an easy way but you will need to upload the APK file to your Manymo account first.
