What does Grofers do?

Grofers, a Gurgaon based startup is an on demand delivery service which builds a system for an on demand logistics for Indian cities. Do you want groceries for your home ? Vegetable and fruits to cook, cup cakes or flowers to be delivered to your door step? This delivery start up will deliver everything to your doorstep within 90 minutes.

Merchants partner with Grofers and allow you easy access to order stuff online. Now you do not have to worry about who delivers to you, or if there are any minimum order values. All you need to do is just open the Grofers app and you will receive your order within 90 minutes whatever they are groceries, fruits, vegetables, flowers etc.

How much Grofers funded?

Grofers, the delivery service has received $10 M in Series A funding led by Tiger Global Management and Sequioa Capital.

  • $500k/ Seed on December 8th, 2014 from investors Sequoia Capital.

What is next for Grofers?

Albinder Dhindsa, Grofers co founder said the new funding will help the delivery service to expand into more cities, the first one being Bangalore. The service is currently available only in Delhi and Mumbai. The funding will also be used to improve the technology so that the merchants can easily upload and manage their goods.

The big challenge Grofers is going to face while expanding into new cities is the labor intensive process of adding shops. But Dhindsa said that the future plans include enhancing the technology so that the stores can manage their orders, track the inventory and add new products. Grofers has plans to expand its service in Bangalore first followed by major cities such as Chennai, Kolkatta and Hyderabad.
