Iotera Raises $1 Million for Wireless Pet Tracking Solution

What does Iotera do?

Iotera is a global leader in wireless technologies for the growing market of Internet of Things, IoT. It is ushering in the era of IoT, where companies do not have to run an inventory on their products, parents can keep a track on their kids whereabouts, people can locate their lost wallet and also keep a track on their pets.

Their product IOTA is the smallest GPS tracking device, which is ideal for pet tracking.  Iotera is based in Silicon Valley and is led by a team of location based and wireless tech experts.

How much Iotera Funded?

This U.S based company which produces GPS devices with a long battery life, has raised $1 M in another seeding round on February 25th, 2015 from the investors,  Rubicon Venture Capital, Crunchfund, String Ventures, EarlyMarket, Don Dodge, ZhenShin Capital and Startup Capital Ventures.

What is next for Iotera?

Iotera is still developing Iota, which started as a device to aid owners keep a track of their animals. For now the product is strictly for pre-order only, but it will begin shipping to customers from May 2015.

Ben Wild, CEO of Iotera said that the idea is grabbed from Craigslist, where there postings for around 50 pets lost just in the Bay area.

The CEO also said that they can cover entire cities with just a handful of home bases. He mentioned that not more than 20 devices would be enough to cover the entire San Francisco.

Iotera was found in 2009 by Robert Barton and Ben Wild with its head quarters stationed in San Francisco, CA.

It is a nationwide consumer IoT network which connects the consumers IoT devices to the internet. It has launched its device IOTA, which is a tiny configurable GPS tracker with all the essential features.  IOTA has months of battery life when compared to mobile devices which die in just a few days. Its smart phone app offers many notification for different purposes such as tracking the pets, detecting new mail in your mail box, tracking your door opening and a lot more.
