ONLINE EDUCATION COMPANY “SOCRATIC” RAISES $6 MILLION


What does Socratic do?

 

Socratic is an online Q&A community where by it provides a great educational base for users to ask questions and get answers. According to the company it is a great educational tool for millions of students around the world looking for answers in subjects as varied as biology, calculus or algebra.

Based on the famous Socratic model which encourages interactive learning through the process of asking and discussing and thereby millions get benefited through this website.

This e-learning platform has connected users and allows them to get answer up to as many as 12 subjects on a daily basis.

 

How much Socratic was funded?

 

Series A funding secured around $6 million for Socratic on the 25th March 2015 from investors Shark Capital, Shasta Ventures and Omidyar Network.

 

Previous Funding:

Initial seed funding for the e- learning platform was secured in the year 2013 on the 8th of October from investors Spark Capital, David Tisch, Terrapin Bale, Betaworks and Box Group for around $1.5 million making the company Socratic secure a total of $7.5 until now in the two rounds of funding so far.

What is next for Socratic?

 

The future for online learning looks a very promising affair and with the recent funding Socratic aims to be at the forefront of e –learning platforms. With an expectation that in near future more than 100 million students would turn to using the internet for learning and with the rise of smartphones Socratic aims to be a leader in both desktop and mobile platforms.
