What does Pie do?

Pie, is chat for work. It is the easiest, fastest and most fun chatting app which you can use for work. It is a messaging service for teams with apps acrss Androis, iOS, Mac and web, and integrates with Google Drive, Dropbox and others. It is more like a simplified version of Slack.  Its consumer like design and polish pushes the boundaries of the consumerization of the enterprise.

Pie raised $1.2M in Series A funding on June 4, 2015 from GREE Ventures, Wavemaker Partners, Boon Hwee Koh, Ivan Yeo and Dennis Goh.

What is next for Pie?

This enterprise messaging service is all prepped up to monetize its service. The fresh funding is led by GREE Ventures, which is an investment arm of the Japanese games maker which is very active in SE Asia. The funding will be used for preparing the company to introduce a paid version of the app, which includes administration controls and costs $3.14159 per user per month. The company believes the early free version has gobbled up and it is time the app became a business.

The company’s founder Pieter Walraven said that the company will initially focus strongly on Japan. The team will remain anchored in Singapore, and will grow its headcount, which is 10 for now, for developing its apps and taking the service ahead.

Pie was founded on February 1st, 2013 by Pieter Walraven. It has its headquarters in Singapore. The company started as service for mini chats, but late last year, it has change to fully focus on being a lightweight communication app for teams. The app is being used by more than 2000 companies including advertising, marketing and publishing, to less likely customers including manufacturing plants, flower shops, universities and churches too. More than 30% of registered users are active each month.
