SimpliVity, the Converged- Infrastructure Startup Raises $175 M


What does SimpliVity do?

SimpliVity, is an infrastructure platform which provides enterprise computing, network functionality and storage services. The startup sells data center hardware aggregating components, servers and storage boxes which are typically sold separately.

SimpliVity comes with software for smartly working with data, which includes data protection and de-duplication also cloud gateway capability for interacting with external cloud storage services.

How much SimpliVity was funded?

SimpliVity was funded $175 M on March 10th, 2015 in Series D funding by investors Meritech Capital Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Accel Partners and Charles River Ventures.

  • $18 M in Series A on January 1st, 2012 by Accel Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and CRV.
  • $25 M in Series B funding on September 24th, 2012 by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, CRV, Accel Partners.
  • $500 K in Debt Financing on September 28th, 2012.
  • $58 M in Series C funding on November 18th, 2013 by CRV, DFJ Growth, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Accel Partners, Meritech Capital Partners.

What is next for SimpliVity?

SimpliVity, with the latest funding the startup stands at a value of $1 billion in excess.  Currently SimpliVity only supports VMware’s hypervisor for setting many virtual machines on each physical server. The startup is going to soon add support for Microsoft’s Hyper-V and also the open source KVM hypervisor. Support for ARM based process might also come soon.
