6 River Systems was founded in 2015 by Christopher Cacioppo, Rylan Hamilton and Jerome Dubois. In 2012, Eclipse Founder and General Partner, Lior Susan had joined the company’s board of directors. It has its headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts. Hamilton and Dubois are former executives of Kiva Sytems which is now Amazon Robotics, a mobile robotics company acquired by Amazon. Seth Winterroth said that the acquisition of Kiva left a gap in this space which yet needs to be filled. This along with the rapid growth in e-commerce industry all over the world, has resulted in the requirement for next-generation automation tools. This company targets the e-commerce market which is currently being undeserved by the material handling vendors. This company significantly reduces the capital necessary for the automate fulfillment centres and provides significant labor savings. The mission of this company is redefining automation for retail and e-commerce operations. By entering this market the company is joining many other robotics start ups which are also aiming at following the footsteps of Kiva into the autonomous material handling systems of business.  However, the company still has to face a lot of challenges in bringing their products to market.
