What does Locomotive Labs Do?

Locomotive Labs designs and develop assistive and play based apps for children with special needs to empower them to be independent learners. They design games and the team members of the Locomotive Labs spent most of their professional lives working on the popular multiplayer online games. But once the team members became parents, their professional motivation changed. Inspired by the children with special needs and therapists and educators who help these children, the team members have decided to dedicate their talent for designing accessible games and app and help kids learn independently.

How Much Locomotive Labs Funded?

The Locomotive Labs, which develops assistive and play based apps for children with special needs had announced that it closed a $4M in Series A funding on February 24th, 2015 from the investors K9 Ventures, Kapor Capital, Joe Gleberman, Jerry Colonna, NewSchools Venture funds.

What is next for Locomotive Labs?

Locomotive Labs is to use this $4 M fund to expand its consumer presence in Asia using its deep connections with lead investors. Also, Locomotive Labs will focus on increasing its presence in the USA education market. Locomotive Lab’s Todo Math app and Teacher Dashboard is already being used in more than 1,000 elementary classrooms, with 25,000 students in prekindergarten to 2nd grade across USA and around the globe.

Sooinn Lee, founder of Locomotive Labs said that the mission of Locomotive labs is to remove the obstacles which frustrate the little kids and empower them to develop confidence and math skills to be successful both inside and outside the classroom.

Locomotive Labs was found in July 2012 by two parents Gunho Lee and Sooinn Lee, who were committed to the mission of assistive, play based app to help children with special needs to be independent learners. Sooinn was a former game designer and he saw a big need to merge learning with play when she came to the US and found there is no educational app to help the young learners. He designed the Todo Math app, which was selected as the best in design and topped the Apple App Store education chart in 20 countries including UK and US.
