Magnetic Insight raises $3M in Seed Round

What does Magnetic Insight do?

Magnetic Insight, which seeks to introduce an emerging imaging tech which addresses the current clinical and translational research challenges. The company is introducing MPI- magnetic particle imaging which is a new radical technology which offers the sensitivity of nuclear med, resolution and penetration of MRI at real time speed. This tech will also offer early diagnosis, better staging of the disease and improved assessment of therapeutic efficacy while addressing patient safety in the unmet technical and clinical requirements in pre-clinical research. The company was founded for commercializing MPI, which directly detects magnetic nanoparticle tracers enabling deep tissue imaging of disease states and functional events. This technology offers exceptional contrast and high sensitivity as the tracer is not normally found in the body. This technology raises the bar in imaging safety and advancement with its quantitative and non-radioactive nanoparticle detection technology. This technology is transforming preclinical research and therapy development.

How much Magnetic Insight was funded?

The company raised $3M on July 18, 2016 from Sand Hill Angels.

What is next for Magnetic Insight?

The company plans to use the funding raised for supporting its global commercialization of its Magnetic Insight Momentum Magnetic Particle Imaging system. The company is building on its $12 M research, invested in the fundamental technology before the company was founded, as well as the pre-seed angel investments and many NIH SBIR grans which the company has obtained.

More about Magnetic Insight

Magnetic Insight was founded on September 29, 2014 by Patrick Goodwill and Anna Christensen. It has its headquarters in Alameda, California. It is an early stage diagnostic imaging company which accelerates preclinical research with direct translation into the clinic. This MPI tech is safe, ultrasensitive and quantitative. It harnesses high contrast iron oxide nanoparticles detection. This technology provides safer, faster and more accurate cell detections, targeted biological events and blood flow.
