What does Mesosphere do?

Mesosphere, is the creator of the world’s first Datacenter Operating System-DCOS. The company is building the operating system for the datacenter based on Apache Mesos. The company’s DCOS is a new kind of operating system which spans all of the servers in a cloud based or physical datacenter, and runs on top of any Linux distribution. The company’s DCOS makes executing and managing applications in a data center similar to launching apps on a laptop by running them on Apache Mesos. The company is at the center of 3 biggest tech trends today; containerizations, cloud and microservices. The company’s DCOS is preferred by its enterprise customers given the container orchestration solution’s maturity, that is why the company chose it as a main component for bringing containers to its enterprise grade Microsoft Aure cloud platform.

Mesosphere raised $73.5M in Series C on March 24, 2016 from Microsoft Corporation – Strategic Investments, Triangle Peak Partners, Fuel Capital, Microsoft, A Capital, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Andreessen Horowitz and Khosla Ventures.

What is next for Mesosphere?                            

The recent funding will be used by the company for supporting its accelerated growth as DCOS becomes the de facto standards for distributed systems and enterprises operating containers in production.  The company has also announced the release of new Mesosphere Velocity platform and version 1.0 release of Marathon.
