Smart phones are not only our devices to make and receive calls, they are social media devices, cameras shopping devices and MP3 players.  Keep everything in one place is convenient, unless your smart phone battery dies fast really. But, there are a few great tips which will keep your smart phone charged and ready for whatever you are using it for. The following are some tips to follow if you want to extend its battery life:

  • Keep your phone cool. Do not keep your phone on hot window sill or lock it up in a hot car. The heat will damage your cell phone battery. So be careful of where you keep your phone.
  • Change your phone settings. You can find which programs are fighting for the phone’s power in the control panel settings. Check which apps are running in your background and eating up the battery and turn them off.
  • Avoid the cute animations as your wallpaper. If you have a live wallpaper or widget running, your battery will die very fast without you even realizing it.
  • Reduce the phone brightness. A dark screen will save a lot of battery.
  • App downloads will consume a lot of battery, so ensure that you turn off all the automatic updates, so you can update your apps when they are ready and not when the app is.
  • You must not overcharge your phone. Never forget your phone after plugging it to the charger. This will cause your phone battery to overheat and the battery will lose its efficiency. Plug them when you are free and unplug immediately when it is charged.
  • Do not burden your phone with apps which you are not using anymore. They will run in your background and consume a lot of battery. Free your phone up of any unused apps and reduce the burden on the battery.
  • If you are have troubles with battery then it is better you have a backup emergency plan. Find a new battery and keep it handy to replace the dead one when needed.
  • You must turn the GPS off. You will need GPS only when you want directions to go somewhere, so unnecessary when you let it run all the time. this will strain your battery. The same goes for Bluetooth too, turn it off when you are not using it.
  • When you are in a place where you have a poor signal, turn your phone into airplane mode. This will stop your phone from searching for a signal which cause a battery drain. When you move into a better signal area, turn to the regular mode and save your battery.
  • Switch off your notifications. It is nice to know when you get an email or somebody likes your picture on facebook, but all this will cost your phone battery. So avoid instant notifications and check your email when you are expecting one.
  • To save your phone battery, lock your phone, this will cut down on accidental calls and also save a battery power as the screen is off.
