Skully, the Smart Helmet Maker raises $11 Million in Series A Funding


What does Skully do?

Skully, is a San Francisco based startup, which has developed a motorcycle helmet with a in-built heads up display. This San Francisco based startup joins Apple and Google corporations and other Silicon Valley companies to create products which merge technologies for the vehicle, wearable and mobile computing.

Skully developed an advanced technology that has ever been applied for a helmet. The end result of using this technology is a  helmet  which is optimized for bike riders which provides them a complete riding experience. When you try this helmet the first time, you will never ride without it again.

How much Skully funded?

Skully Inc, the motorcycle helmet developer raised $11 M in Series A funding from the investors on February 27th 2015 by Eastlink Capital, Formation 8th, Intel Capital, Riverwood Capital and Western Technology Investment.

What is next for Skully?

Skully, the motorcycle helmet with a heads up display has raise $ 11 M in new funding round. Part of the fund raised will go to funding the manufacturing of Skully’s first smart helmet, the AR-1. These helmets are yet to ship and company is hoping to start sending them out to the early backer soon.

It is also hiring software and hardware engineers to help in the process of manufacturing AR-1. These new hires are to be used in developing future products beyond the first helmet.

The funds are also to be used to meet the manufacturing milestone and accelerate Skully’s technology.

Skully was founded on February 27th, 2013 by Mitch Weller and Marcus Weller and has its headquarters stationed in San Francisco, CA. Skully’s helmet, the AR-1 has a head up display, which floats in front of the motorbike rider, displaying a rear view camera feed along with GPS and other functions. The helmet is to be sold for $1500.
