Spaceflight Industries, is a next gen space company which is dedicated to democratizing access to space. The company provides cost effective small satellite solutions and services for enabling new apps through space commercialization. This is a next gen space products and services company which is changing how satellites in building, launching and operated.  Through its completely owned subsidiaries Spaceflight Networks, Spaceflight Systems and Spaceflight Services. The company is streamlining the process and lowering the cost for accessing and operating in space. The company was founded with the mission of being a catalyst in the exploration, commercialization and development of space. Today the company produces high performance commercial satellite components and spacecraft which is affordable. Spaceflight Services was founded in 2010 for providing commercial rideshare, cost effective launch services which opens up access to space for more applications and organizations. SpaceFlight Networks was founded in 2014, which is dedicated to cost effective spacecraft operations and communications for customers of small satellites. All of these companies were combined and rebranded in 2015 to form Spaceflight Industries.

How much Spaceflight was funded?

The company raised $25M in Series B on June 21, 2016 from Vulcan Capital, Razor’s Edge Ventures, Mithril Capital Management and RRE Ventures.

What is next for Spaceflight?

The company has announced it has acquired Herndon an OpenWhere corporation based in Virginia for further enhancing and executing on its BlackSky geospatial data platform for satellite imagery. As a part of the funding, Ajay Royan, Mithril’s co-founder and managing general partner has joined the company’s board of directors.
