What does Tal Medical do?

Tal Medical, is a clinical stage medical device start up which is a pioneer in the development of a novel, neuromodulatory device for treating psychiatric and neurological disorders. It has licensed exclusively the Low Field Magnetic Stimulation- LFMS, which is a technology pioneered at the McLean Hospital. Tal Medical is developing the innovative, neurostimulation based treatment for psychiatric disorders with an aim to redefine the clinical paradigm in psychiatry.

How much Tal Medicals was funded?

Tal Medicals raised $14M in  Series A funding on April 21st, 2015 from PureTech Ventures.

$700k in Debt Financing on June 14th, 2011.

What is next for Tal Medicals?

Tal Medicals will use the new funding to boost the company’s clinical research programs in major depression an bipolar disorders and to advance its product development and for expanding its organization.  It has also added 2 new team members Raju Kucherlapati and Mike Maden. Mike Madden was hired as the executive vice president of the company’s product development. He has twenty five years of experience across many clinical areas. Mr.Kutcherlapati comes as addition to Tal Medical’s board of directors.

The support of the investors is important for advancing the startup’s efforts in addressing a big unmet need in the department of pyschaitry for developing a safe and good treatment for patients.

About 9%-10% of  the adult population in US suffers from major depressive disorders every year, which are one of the main causes for suicide and disability and the regular treatment takes around 4-10 weeks to be effective, but Tal Medicals hopes to provide a rapid acting treatment for those suffering from depression.
