1. Create a Schedule
Even though you may have the freedom to work whenever you will have to think about the times when you need to be in contact with the rest of the 9-5 world.
You should block times to handle crucial tasks like calls with clients, checking emails, and project updates.
You should also block time for breaks and non-work activities to keep your work/life balance.
Make sure you maintain a consistent schedule, so you know it’s time to do something. Structure will help you focus.
2. Have a Visible Calendar
Having a visible calendar will help you manage your due dates. Putting all your projects together and due dates can let you see how much time you have.
You can then create your to do lists for goals based on timeframes. Make sure you have this calendar in a spot you would check regularly whether it’s electronic or hanging on your wall.

3. Dedicated Work Space

5. Talk to Others
Let’s face it – working from home can get lonely. Be sure you have contact with others regularly through Skype, business calls, or meetings.
You should even try running errands for a break to get out and about, take a walk, or go to the gym. Just staring out your window is probably not enough.
If you are lonely, you may not be as productive. Try taking breaks to meet other freelancers or colleagues for coffee or lunch. Go to networking events to find others in the same field as you.
You may make a business connection or even a personal friendship to share and compare your notes on being productive.
6. Begin with the Hardest Task
As your day moves on, you may lose your energy. This means that you may lose some of your motivation and start procrastinating.
Start with your hardest task (or closest deadline) first while your energy is at its highest.
7. Take Regular Breaks When You Work From home
If you take regular breaks, you will feel rejuvenated. You’ll be shocked at how much you can do in 20-25 minutes if you focus entirely on one task.
Breaks make these focus sessions possible. You can lose energy if you don’t take breaks and drain all your energy. Just because you worked straight doesn’t mean you gave it your full attention.
Be sure to get up and move around. You don’t want to sit too long – get that blood flowing!
8. Set Daily Goals
Just because you don’t report to someone daily doesn’t mean you shouldn’t set your own personal goals.
Each day you should think about three important items you want to get done that day. Focus on your short-term goals and how these relate to your long-term goals.
Be sure your list is realistic. You want your goals to be measurable so you know you can cross them off. For example, finish article on cleaning or make five sales calls from 9-10 a.m.

9. Keep Healthy Food in Your Home
Your food is right there all day long, and no one is stopping you from raiding the fridge.
Make sure you have healthy food ready for energy. You don’t want to eat too much junk food and have an energy crash later in the day.
Be sure you take time to eat lunch. You may even want to consider meal prep or having your lunch “packed” and ready to go when you are hungry.
Don’t forget about breakfast either! You need that energy to start your day on the right foot.
10. Limit Distractions
This is probably the hardest of the list. It may also be the most important to help you stay productive.
You can look into tools to help limit distractions like social media. Turn off notifications on your phone or put it away.
Before you know it, you have spent way too much time on Facebook or Snapchat. The Internet is a blackhole that is hard to get out of.
Set a timer to avoid sinking into the blackhole!
