Easy Steps to Connect Your iPhone With Your TV

Sometimes viewing photos, videos or other visual content on your iPhone is not enough. You need a bigger screen to enjoy the moments you captured. How about seeing them on TV? Yes, that’s right! You may not know this but your iPhone can quite easily connect with your television. Doesn’t it sound exciting? There are two ways through which you can do this. The first is the wired method while the other is through wireless streaming. However, you would have to consider different service plans like Spectrum internet plans if you want to go ahead with the latter approach.

Connecting Your iPhone With TV via HDMI Cable

Let’s first discuss how you can connect your iPhone to a TV through an HDMI cable. This is the wired method. To successfully make this method word, you will need to invest in Apple’s Lightning Digital AV adaptor. If you don’t want to buy this then you can consider buying any third-party adapters. Another thing you need to keep in mind is to get an HDMI cable that is at least 15 feet long. This is because it will allow you to sit comfortably at a distance from the television.

The setup is quite simple. You will be required to connect the HDMI cable on one end of the TV while the adapter goes in the other. You can then plug the lightning cable into your iOS device before setting your television to the right input. Also, if you want, you can connect a charger into the second lightning port of the adapter which would prevent the battery of your iOS device from draining.

Once the iPhone is connected, you can mirror apps on the television. However, while using streaming services such as Netflix, and Amazon Prime, you will be offered playback controls as the video runs on the TV.

Mirroring Your iPhone on Apple TV via Airplay

If you don’t want to involve wires in the process of connecting your iPhone with your television then you can do simply stream any audio or video on Apple TV through wireless Airplay protocol. Here’s how you can do this process.

  • Make sure that your iPhone and Apple TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • You need to head to Control Center on the smartphone.
  • Now hit on ‘Screen Mirroring.’
  • Choose Apple TV from the list.
  • Now enter the 4-digit code that you see on your TV and viola. Your device is now connected to the television.

Please note that it is not necessary to mirror your iPhone on the TV if you want to stream audio or video. Why? Well, this is because some applications have the AirPlay icon on them. You just need to press it and select your Apple TV from the list. The video content will now start to display on your television.

Mirroring Your iPhone to Fire TV, Roku, and Chromecast

If you want to avoid spending on an expensive adaptor cable and also don’t own Apple TV, then there is an alternative for you. It’s called mirroring apps. They will allow you to share the screen of your iPhone on Fire TV, Roku, and Chromecast devices. One of such apps that enables you to do this flawlessly is called 2kit Consulting. What these applications do is they use the feature of screen recording on the iOS device and capture the video. After that, it transfers to the streaming player. Please keep in mind that with the Fire TV, and Roku apps, you will have to get a separate app on the player itself. However, don’t fret as the iOS app will guide you through this.

A Few Problems

Although you would be able to mirror your iPhone on Roku, Chromecast, and Fire TV, you will face a few problems like delay. Also, the video quality will not be that great. Moreover, you would have to watch an ad before your device can mirror successfully. However, you can get rid of these frustrating issues by opting for the paid version of these apps.

For Chromecast Users

Please note that you can send your favorite pictures, audio, or videos on TV via different applications. These apps will enable you to play the content directly on the television without you needing to mirror the display of your iPhone. For example, when you connect Chromecast to your TV, open the Google Home Companion app on your iOS device. Go to supported apps and you will see the Chromecast icon. Simply tap on it and then select the Chromecast from the list. You can now start media playback and it will appear on the television.

Sometimes viewing your videos or photos on the iPhone is not enough. This is why one needs to mirror the device to TV so that not only you but your entire family can relive the special moments that you captured. Apart from videos and photos, you can even surf the web on your television and search for different cable plans like Spectrum TV packages if you want. How cool is that, right?!
