What to Look While Buying LED TV
It is the age of the LED’s as LCD televisions in most drawing rooms are being replaced by LED TV’s. An LED TV is preferred because it provides a brighter display with better contrast and a thinner panel when compared to an LCD. It is also more efficient and consumes lesser electricity. There are certain factors to keep in mind while buying an LED TV.
Screen Size
The screen size of an LED typically ranges between 25 inches to 75 inches. But getting the biggest screen size might not always be better. Consider the distance that viewers will sit from the TV. The seating distance is very important while deciding screen size. Viewers should sit at a distance that’s 1.5 times more than the TV’s screen width. For example if the viewer sits at a 48 inch distance from the TV, a screen size of 32 inches would be perfect. When the seating distance is more, the screen size needs to increase accordingly. Getting a bigger screen when seating distance is less can cause the viewer to strain his neck and eyes to view the entire screen.
Resolution
Terms likeHD ready, Full HD and Ultra HD are terms used by manufacturers and often leaves the viewers confused. How do you even decide what’s good for you?A standard full HD TV has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels whereas a HD ready TV has a lower resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and does not come with an inbuilt HD tuner. With LED TV’s there are very few HD ready models and that too with a screen size less than 32 inches. With a Full HD TV you can watch content on Blu-Ray discs which is not supported by a HD ready TV. Ultra HD is often used interchangeably with the term 4K which is expected to be the future of television screen resolution. The resolution is 4 times that of a Full HD TV and delivers increased image clarity, improved texture and smoothness of picture quality. But it’s going to take some time before viewers in India can receive content that’s 4K ready on their television sets.
Smart Television
A smart LED TV can connect to your home internet connection and let you watch YouTube videos or online movies on your LED TV’s big screen. Browse the internet or switch to a TV show with a single flick of the remote. Motion control technology lets you change channels or control volume options with simple hand movements. The same functionality is achieved through voice control as well. It is always better to opt for an LED TV with built-in Wi-Fi functionality.
Ports
Before you buy an LED TV ensure that it has at least 2 HDMI ports. More the number of ports, the better. HDMI ports are essential to connect your TV to a DVD player, computer or game console. A USB port offers the convenience of plugging in an external hard disk to display pictures or video.
To compare different models and brands of LED TV’s and to get some great discounts, online shopping is certainly the way to go.
